Now that you have your dentures, you might think your time spent worrying about your teeth is over! Unfortunately, that’s just not the case. Even though your natural teeth are gone, there is still a lot to do and a lot to consider regarding your dentures. We’ve put together a list of three things we wish every denture wearer knew!

1) It Takes Time to Learn a New Skill

Like anything else, learning to use your dentures will take some time. Your muscles are learning new movements, and your brain is learning to hold those dentures in place automatically! Give yourself some time to adjust.

2) Don’t Settle For a Poor Fit

We see patients who are so excited to have their dentures that they don’t really care about the fit. We’re glad that you are happy, but in order to remain happy with your dentures, we need to make sure they fit well! As time goes on, that fit will change, so it’s important that you maintain routine appointments to adjust your dentures.

3) There Are Always Other Options

If you just can’t get the hang of your dentures, or you aren’t pleased with the way that they fit, please consider other options! We have some great implant retained dentures options that will give you a more comfortable and functional fit!

Wearing dentures is an exciting time for you. It’s like a new lease on your smile, and we hope that you enjoy this new stage of your life. We also hope that you get to know your dentures and allow us to help you keep them functional. Contact us to set up your next appointment. Let us know how we can help you make your dentures more comfortable!
